Sunday

Today N and I attended a birthday party for his friend from school, Austin. They had a giant inflatable slide and water guns. It was basically a water-themed party. Anyhow we couldn't stay the whole time, N missed the cake and gift-opening because we had to leave for a cub scout event. While we were at the party, V was home with the girls, slaving over a hot grease-filled Fry Daddy, making one of his experimental Vietnamese egg roll recipes.
V brought 40 of his egg rolls to the Cub Scout barbecue/pot-luck/swim party and it was a real hit. I'm sorry to say, but they were gone long before the real food came out. Everybody in our den had a great time planning next year's events and outings and the boys even earned their swimming belts and pins in the pool. E found some older girl siblings (both in 4th grade) to mentor her for the day. The host family have a great California ranch property with plenty of places for the kids to play and roam around. Both the girls fell asleep on the way home from the party in their carseats, and we slipped them into their beds-no complaints, they were absolutely exhausted. Couldn't help but notice the absolutely lovely property for sale down the street from our cub scout hosts' home. The huge sprawling home, complete with guest house has lovely landscaping and a great setup. When I found out it was going for 1.9 million, I had to look the other way.
