Sad Day

My Uncle Jim passed away last night. He was 65 years old. He has battled several years with cancer. So his cancer was either very aggressive or the treatment didn't work I guess. In the end, the Lord had other plans for him. My mom came back from Germany on emergency leave so she was there. He was her eldest brother.
My cousin pointed out to me that yesterday was my late grandmother's birthday and she was going to get one awesome birthday present (a reunion with her son). I don't know if that's true, if they even celebrate birthdays in heaven, but at least it put a smile on my face.
Today I kept a low profile. I spent a lot of time thinking about life...and death.

I rented Spiderwick Chronicles for the kids to watch tonight. It came out on DVD Tuesday. Please take my advice: Do not rent this movie for kids 5 or under! Way too scary. Ogres, goblins, sylph, griffin, fairies, and a host of other imaginary creatures. I do have sensitive kids, but my girls were absolutely petrified. I had to change the movie for the girls halfway through. We'll see if they can make it through the night without nightmares. What was I thinking?
