Bleeding peaches...

Ever wondered what a bleeding peach looks like? ...Well, I was cutting a peach with a knife for my kids to snack on. A looks at the peach after I cut it and says,"Oh no, Mommy, it's bleeding." Kids say the darnedest things.

Swimming is going well. The kids all love their instructors. It's amazing how much influence a high school or college student can have over a little one. A talks about hers all the time. "I go to see my teacher tomorrow." "My teacher holds me way up" "I jump to my teacher". Call it a crush, if I two year old can even have one of those. N is proud of his (he shows off with the most reckless flips off the diving board between classes). E has a very patient teacher, since she seems to be the class clown. Hiding, sneaking up behind, "Teacher, look at this!!" I'm sure the teacher loves having "one of those" in her class.

New laws regarding cellular phones and driving went into effect in California on July 1st. Passengers are exempt from the laws. You can use a blue-tooth earpiece in one ear or speaker phone as long as your hands are free. Dialing while driving is not illegal, though strongly discouraged. Check out the details here at the CA DMV site. In my opinion, whether I'm hands-free or clutching a phone to my ear doesn't make much of a difference. It's equally as distracting. It's when there is a need to make a call or answer a ringing phone where the danger lies. That's when I have to take my eyes, and my hands off the wheel to take care of business. I can't believe I'm admitting this. Yes, it is dangerous, as is eating, putting on makeup, making to-do lists, changing the radio, putting in a movie, or disciplining kids while driving. And I guess it's legal to send text-messages while driving, as long as you're not distracted. Now tell me, do you know anyone who is not distracted while sending text-messages and driving?
