Boys playing a game of cards
My boy and his hand
Sister snuggles with her Daddy
This evening we picked up take-out (cabo shrimp burritos) at Baja Fresh and headed out for an evening outdoor concert (tribute to Neil Diamond). We met our cub scout den there. Lucky for us, some of the others had arrived early and saved a small grassy area at the top of the amphitheater for us and our group. When we arrived half an hour before the show, it was already a full house.
After everyone ate their picnic dinners, the boys gathered in a circle and played a game of cards, while our girls colored. We got to hear all the classics. All the older people were up dancing around, acting like teenagers again. It was great fun to watch them feeling young again. The band played all the classics "Sweet Caroline", "Forever in Blue Jeans", "I'm a Believer" and then some. Then for the encore, they saved the song "America" for last. This seemed to be the favorite; it's always been a moving one for me. The crowd stood and swayed and put the kids up on their shoulders. Everybody had a wonderful time, especially the adults. Great choice for a scout outing!
