Day camp starts

Today the kids started their respective day camps. E is in singing camp, N is in space camp. A is my personal assistant for all my errands. So while the kids were enjoying their respective day camps, my assistant and I went grocery shopping. So much easier to do this with one child vs. three children. Amazingly, the one I took doesn't ask for everything bright, colorful, fizzy or sickingly sweet in the store either.

E is tasked with learning a song by Thursday. Well, that should be fun! Who said anything about a recital when I signed up for this class? And red, white and blue clothes? Great! ...Write in a shopping trip as well. I guess we have plans for Thursday night now. I thought I was putting them in day camp to decrease my workload, not increase it!

This afternoon we (they) played in our mini dough-boy pool. I'm pretty certain there is a hole in it by now (lucky for me, I bought two). The kids were busy running across the yard and body-slamming themselves into the pool. I noticed at the end of the "swim" session the top roll started to look a little "deflated". Oh well, at least they got some exercise! I tried a Dr Sears "Nibble Tray" for them today. (I heard about it at a nutrition talk the adults had on graduation day from safety school.) It didn't work quite the way it was intended, as the three kids ate the whole tray in one sitting! Wow, with that success, I guess I'll try again tomorrow (half the green peppers are still in the tray, but I still consider it a success). Raspberries compliments of Townsend Farms in Fairview, OR.

Yesterday we were eating our baked potatoes when N asked if he could cut it with a knife. Eyeballing the knife, I said "Sure."
E said, "Mom, he's not using the kid's knife!" (I knew I should have ordered two).
I said, "It's ok, he can use that one, it's just a butter knife."
E looks at the knife inquisitively, "Why? Is it made of butter?"

I bought a small cookbook (circular) in the grocery check-out line several months ago. After dinner tonight I made us a Taste of Home recipe for fruit smoothies. N told me it was really good and could we have it again sometime? This little smoothie book has proven itself over and over. When I go shopping, I go as far as to shop off the smoothie recipes. And at the time, I thought it was just one of those whimsical wasteful purchases....

A looks so skinny without a bulky diaper on. What a cutie pie!
I love the snack tray. You are going to have to remind me about it when S gets old enough.
