Singing Stars

This is my son, the mad scientist. This week he is building rockets, among a slew of other things. Today they blasted off their rockets (complete with parachutes) in the park. Everyday he brings home something new. He is asking me questions about atmosphere and gravity. He is having a blast. He even met a new friend with the same name as him. Too bad tomorrow is the last day.

The new booster seat. We seem to be having some trouble with buckling now-mainly due to position of the buckle in the car. Buckling the 5-point was easier for her. And if I have to climb to the back of the car everytime to buckle it, the purpose is defeated. We'll see if we can adjust with time. Otherwise, it's back to the drawing board (and a little internet shopping). That's her new "lunchbox" pictured.

This is my daughter the singing star. Today was her last day of singing camp. They had a performance this evening. Lucky for us, her daddy left work early to come watch. They sang songs as a group and each child sang a solo of their choice. After much deliberation, my daughter chose the Hannah Montana song "Best of Both Worlds". I did make a video of her solo, but since I held the camera wrong and the picture is sideways, I won't bother to upload it.

I tried my best to dissuade her from this Hannah Montana song, because the lyrics are a little complicated for a five-year-old. I thought Zip-a-dee-doo-da or Shoo-fly would be much easier and I didn't want her to have a bad experience. But she has a mind of her own and insisted, she "didn't want to sing no baby song!" (So Hannah Montana it is.)

After the concert, we headed over to the diner to celebrate. While we were there V noticed the manager was one of his clients. When he went to the register to pay, the guy took half off! We were pleasantly surprised (and very grateful).
