Bowling and the Beach

Wow! I never thought it would happen to me. So far I have been the lucky mom, the mom whose son insists on kissing and hugging her (in front of everyone) when she drops him off for school. So what happened, you ask? Things change so fast! Yesterday I picked him up from Sunday School class (it was an intimate moment as just the two of us walked to pick up his sister). I lifted my arm to drape over his shoulder in a show of affection (here comes the traumatic part) and as my arm is moving up, he shrinks away. I think it is just a mistake, so I go to give him a hug, and he does an acrobatic movement which transports him about 2 feet further away from me. Then it hit me. My sister warned me of this. I just wasn't prepared.

Speaking of preparation, after spending 30 minutes packing today, we made a long car trip to meet old friends. After a brief reunion, the kids went bowling. I had to chase A up the lane and give her ball an extra push so it would make it to the pins. After bowling, the three mommies chatted while the kids played at the playground on the beach nearby. We made it home just ahead of traffic. Everybody had such a good time catching up, so the mommies decided to schedule another bowling rendezvous for next week.

Check out my technique!

I did it!

This was day number 4 with no penny! I'm getting a little worried. I expected it to pass by now. She doesn't have any discomfort. Her belly is soft and she is passing stools. Two fishing expeditions today. This is just not one of the best parts of being a parent! Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day. More to follow...
