A *bloggin* week off

Me and the 2 cool chix

Sorry, guys, I took a week off from my dear old blog. I read some of my old posts and let's face it, they are boring! So you're probably not having much fun reading anyway! So much has happened I can't possibly describe it all. We spent the weekend Friday-Sunday in Seattle for my sister-in-law's wedding. The kids had to miss school on Friday. I was able to meet up with old friends (Jennifer and Amy, James and Thomas) from Washington on Friday night. They drove over 2 hours to meet us. I am so thankful. Our luggage was lost, so the girls took me shopping for replacements an hour before the Nordstrom store closed (we made it). As Murphy's law would have it, we ended up getting our missing garment bag the next day, in time for the wedding. But how was I to know it would come? Would you call that power shopping?
We had to cram into a tiny SUV all weekend because, you guessed it, they didn't have the minivan I reserved 4 months ago! They offered us a 15 passenger van upgrade for free...ummm, no thanks!
The wedding was lovely. It's so nice to attend a wedding without being in it or having to do anything, doncha think? Well, I thought so... And it's entertaining and funny watching someone else's family and all their quirks and not your own. At the reception the kids spent the night on the dance floor. N promised a woman the first dance, and kept his promise. There were chocolate truffles at every place setting and he made sure there were none left anywhere by the time we left the reception.

This week the girls had their teeth cleaned and examined on Monday. It was A's first time! Hooray for her. No cavities, I might add.

Tuesday we had our first cub scout pack meeting. I was introduced in my new role as pack treasurer. I set up a table at the front door to collect dues money and collected exactly...
$0! Yes, you heard me right. I probably should have made sure they got the word out for people to bring their checkbooks or money to the meeting. Better luck next time. Kind of hard hitting people up for money the first meeting, reminds me of the school, they have it arranged to start asking for money the first week. "PTA membership, SMART card" ...who knows what else?
The older two kids started soccer this week. I couldn't go to E's practice today at 5 because it was at exactly the same time as her brother's...only at a different park. Hopefully we can get that straightened out soon. There is talk of practice at the same location starting next Wednesday. Wow, would that ever streamline things for me! To get all the practices out of the way on the one day. What a busy day for E today. She must have been absolutely exhausted (she was a little crabby) after school, gymnastics and soccer-all in 80 degree weather. N wanted the windows open in the car to get a breeze, I rolled them all down. E responded with "Can someone shut the windows, for God sakes!?" Where did she learn that? And is that a bad word? wasn't sure how to respond, so I used the method my dad taught me, pretending not to hear the comment at all.

So what's next, you might ask? Well, it's bedtime for me, dear folks. I strained my neck/shoulder somehow on the trip and haven't been able to do anything productive for days, including type on the computer. By 9 pm I am ready for bed, mainly because I don't feel much pain while I'm asleep! Unpacking and laundry have been a major hassle. Washing all the sheets, quilts and comforters in the house as well, don't ask me why I decided to do this with a strained neck. I wasn't thinking at the time. Plus I've got a sinus infection that won't go away.

This kind of sucks, but today is V's birthday and he has to work late. So no party, no cake, no happy birthday song. Kinda sad, huh? The big 41! We'll have to make it up to him on Friday night.
