Hare today.....Goon tomorrow.

It's that crazy month of October, when things are not always as they appear. You can go from say, a nice white rabbit one morning in dance class...

...to decorating goon cupcakes the next afternoon.

The best way to do it? Invite over friends after school and let the moms do all the work, cooking cupcakes, making frosting, buying candies and setting up. Then all you have to do is swoop in and have a great time, making lovely messes and ruining your appetite for dinner. The moms even get to clean up! And only one of them refused to wear the apron. But it really was great fun. Maybe next time we can do cookies..

N enrolled in the Reflections art competition. He made the watercolor ocean first, and was disappointed with the results "It looks too blotchy, Mom!" (say this in a whiny voice if you want the full effect), so the morning it was due, before school, he decided to do a castle in crayon. Hmm...now we'll have to wonder if the ocean would have done better.

I have to put in a word for V today. The kids had back to back soccer games at 8 and 9:15 (which means they have to be there at 7:30). So he decided to take the kids and let Mom and A sleep in. Wow! That's the first time in ages I've slept till 8:15. Well, A woke up at 7:45, but I told her to get a book and lay next to me reading, so I didn't get up till 8:15! He even watched the kids for an hour and a half before he had to go to work while I made a hurried "coupon" run to Costco. The air was crisp and cool. Apple picking weather. Snuggle up and read a book weather. I forgot to make coffee this morning and by two-o'clock this afternoon, while I was reading to the kids, I could barely keep my eyes open!
