Today we went to the air show. It was fun and different. My friend Kat gave us a preferred parking pass, so we saved probably about a half an hour waiting in line to exit the freeway and go onto the base to find parking...but we probably spent that half hour walking from the preferred parking to the tarmac instead. Well, I guess I'd rather spend the time walking than sitting in traffic.
It was so loud we had to wear earplugs. We cruised by the medical tent where they were handing them out for free.
It was exciting to see the Blue Angels. Of course, E missed the whole thing because she fell asleep laying on a flimsy blanket on the concrete, wind blowing, sun beating down and jets roaring overhead. A kept stepping over her and leaning on her. You have got to be tired to sleep through something like that.
When we saw the program, we realized V's former client was one of the pilots again, actually the lead solo, number 5. This is his second tour with the Blue Angels. V delivered his first child when we were stationed at Lemoore Naval Air Station 8 years ago. Wish we could have stayed for autographs, but the wait (for debriefing after the flight) was too long.
After the show we found a local Pho restaurant and everybody enjoyed some Vietnamese chicken noodle soup.
P.S. I think the kids would have preferred "Miss Donald's".
