Friday Morning Line up
Friday N got a Peacebuilder award at school. Lucky for me, I volunteer in the classroom Fridays, and was already there at the assembly when he received it. The way he makes it sound, practically anybody can qualify for a Peacebuilder award, if they have a friend who's willing to speak up and tell the teacher when they do something out of the ordinary. We're talking about the kid who stays in the lunchroom and sweeps after lunch instead of going to recess, just so he can collect a "Knight" ticket. Last year he collected so many Knight tickets, that other kids, following his example, started to stay and sweep, and pretty soon they were all fighting over brooms and the teaching aides decided, no more Knight tickets to be awarded for sweeping! From what I can see he is getting pretty good at this sort of thing. Who knows? Perhaps he is headed for a career in politics. (this year he plans to be a veterinarian)
After school Friday E came home with this note in her backpack.....
Hmmm, whaddya think? According to E, they can't bring in their towels for naptime. And if you ask her, she'll tell you her head is itching. But then again, after reading that note, mine is too. Guess we'll have to keep an eye on that!
Both the kids lost their soccer games Saturday morning. Their Daddy missed it all, as he was busy working all day. E made a goal and was so proud of herself, she made me call him at work just to let him know.
Saturday evening we hunkered down outside of Henry's Market to sell popcorn. I brought a DVD player and a few "little-chick flicks" for the girls (mainly Barbie movies). I was so smug with my great idea. I thought it would keep them sooo busy, they would hardly notice sitting outside a grocery store for two hours. Boy was I wrong. It was during the witching hour (4-6 pm) and they couldn't sit still or be cooperative. The temperature started to drop as soon as the sun started slithering down the horizon. (I forgot to bring jackets). We just didn't sell that much popcorn. I don't know, maybe the Henry's customers are into raw, organic, green-packaged healthy foods, not boxed microwave popcorn or sticky-sweet caramel popcorn with nuts. This Friday we'll be at the local Trader Joe's. The customers there seem to love our popcorn, or at least buy a lot of it. The other dens seem to have had great sales at that location.
Hmmm... who wants to buy popcorn off a trash can?
