I know, it's been 5 days and you haven't seen hide nor hair of me. Busy week. Popcorn sales at Trader Joe's Friday night were disappointing, so after a few phone calls, half of us packed up and moved over to Lowe's. Who would figure the Lowe's customers would buy everything we had? I guess we hit the right crowd on a Friday evening. Partying the night before the "big" project, or something.
All roads led to the ranch this weekend for a cub scout pack camping trip. If you call sleeping in a bunk house camping, that is. Our family roughed it in a tent because they ran out of "room at the inn", so to speak. We were asked to volunteer for this position. After listening to 3 men snoring all night last time we stayed in the bunkhouse, I figured this might be a better choice. I personally spent the full night awake, tossing from side to side to back (nursing the numb spots over my bony prominences) because our air mattress deflated before we even came to bed. That is a very bad sign. We packed things up today, folded up the tent, and I took a look at the (flat) boulder I had been sleeping on all night. Wow, that was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had. If I had only known what lie beneath the tent I would have picked V's more comfortable packed dirt side.
N and E both won their games on Saturday. N played the best I have ever seen him play. He made 3 out of the 7 goals for his team. They beat the other team 7-0. E made a goal of her own too. I didn't get to watch her game because I was too busy working at the camp check-in table. Her game was mid-day and V had to run her over amidst the flurry of cub scout activities.
The most exciting thing that happened the whole weekend was when my almost 3 year old disappeared for a frantic 10 minutes, which felt like an hour. This occurred during our den "parent" meeting (which I missed entirely). The camp started buzzing when they realized it and there were about (no kidding) 40 adults searching for her. Well, she was found (one of the big girls was helping her wash her hands in the bathroom) without incident. After that, she spent the rest of the weekend within 10 feet of her Dad and I, never leaving our sight for an instant.
Sunday the boys from Den 10 cooked lunch for their parents (I didn't see any of them wash their hands). I hope my stomach can withstand those (dirty-handed) sloppy joes (and I hope they cooked the ground beef thoroughly).
When we got home, we all had a layer of dust on us. It looked like I had a really gooood tan going... then I took a shower and washed it all off. I was going to put the kids in the bath, took one look at all the grime, and decided it had to be a shower. Else the bathwater would have been brown. Vu spent the next hour wiping down the inside of the van. This of course, after he drove out of the ranch with the windows all rolled down.
After my shower I spent the next two hours counting and organizing money for all the various cub scout activities; Membership, Fall family campout, Eerie Halloween Campout, T-shirt sales and Popcorn Sales money. My organizational skills are being pushed to the limit. Who knows? This could be good for me. I could always use improvement in this area.

Yes, indeed I saw the "proof" that you received the smart card! Now I guess I can believe him.
