Thanks for Thanksgiving vacation!

Yes we are on Thanksgiving vacation! I could use a break. The break is what I'm most thankful for! And the fact that my wonderful sister and her children are coming to spend the break with us! They arrive Saturday.

Dad is gone. He left on Monday. The kids really miss him. E writes him little "I love you Grampa Elise" notes everyday. When we come home from going out A asks, "Where is Grandpa?" When I tell her he is gone, she says, "When is he coming home?" Hard to explain to a 3-year-old.
Yes indeed, she truly is three now. She celebrated her (real) birthday last week.

A- First time ever blowing out the candles! (took a little coaching)

Does this mean I don't have to watch her like a hawk anymore? Good, because tonight at the cub scout meeting, nobody was watching her (well, nobody in our family, anyway). V was acting as the den leader and I was busy with my treasurer duties. Lucky for us there are some pretty great (and bored) older siblings who attend the meetings as well. I set up my little table near the door to collect dues money (this job is really starting to make me feel evil). The boys had a big pizza party and got their awards for selling popcorn. Speaking of popcorn, there are times when I wish we were selling cookies (you know what I mean- I just like eating cookies better than popcorn!). Well, I may get my wish (only we'll be selling both). E's teacher wants to start a Daisy group (girl scouts) and she wants E to be in her group. They will probably start up after the holidays. She has to take some girl scout training courses first :) And yes, we will get to sell the cookies in the spring. So watch out!

A dressed up like Snow White today for her dance class. We had to dash into Gymboree on the way to class so we could buy a (glittery Dorothy-esque) red headband, which she promptly removed when they got in the studio for "it was too tight!" (in a whiny voice).

Snow White with a crooked smile (seems to be her signature smile these days)

E brought home her first reading book on Friday (well actually I brought it home because she was home sick). She read the book to me twice, to Grandpa, and to Daddy when he got home. She would have read it more, had there been more people to listen. She was so proud of herself (and we were too). I must say, that was the simplest book I have ever read in my life....

(The book)

This afternoon were the parent teacher conferences at the elementary school. We had to wait about ten minutes for N's teacher and what seemed like an eternity to meet with E's teacher. She was running late. I had all 3 kids with me. Need I say more? Results of said conferences: the kids are doing fine. They are both in the highest reading groups and "a pleasure to have in class", which means they listen, follow directions, get along with the other kids, and so on. N is especially good with math (huh?) according to his teacher.
I have been trying to paint the girls bathroom for a week now (actually more like three) I'm sure the paint is settling. The room is taped and ready, outlet/switch covers, towel bars, and medicine cabinet removed, I just can't find the block of time to do it. (Aren't there supposed to be elves who do this kind of stuff?) All I have are one hour blocks and I don't want to open the paint and then have to leave it half done. I don't know, maybe it will have to wait until after my sister comes. I'm not sure paint fumes are good for a 6 month old baby. Besides I need my blocks of time to get the groceries and scrub all the floors (the baby is crawling).

E receives her soccer trophy last Wednesday- we were forty minutes late because we went to the wrong pizza place!
