Wii broken

Let's see, what's new? While my family enjoys High School Musical 3, I sit here catching up on the week's events. This week I had my labs done (cholesterol, triglycerides, ldl, hdl, etc.). I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Everything was low or normal except my kidney GFR, which continues to be decreased (mild kidney disease). I really wish I could do something about that. But there's nothing. I guess I'll never be able do donate a kidney. Lucky for me, A was there for me while I had my "blood pleasure" done. She later explained to her father how it didn't hurt because she gave me a hug. I don't know if I'm helping or harming her by dragging her around for all these procedures, I really don't have a choice! Tomorrow there's yet another test to be done...

I finally started volunteering at the school again (they really missed my free labor in Kindergarten). I spent two hours stamping t-shirts last Friday and two hours making March journals today. I like volunteering, but especially when another parent is there with me, then I have someone to talk to. Usually it is either Autumn (her daughter is in an adjoining class) or Jim (his daughter is in E's class). E recently started girl scouts with both their daughters as well. We don't get to sell cookies this year, because our group got started too late. And, wow, Daddy is going to be super lucky because he gets to take his lovely daughter to another Father Daughter dance, this one with the Girl Scouts, imagine that!

N had his first ever school presentation. It was a biography on a famous American. He chose to do his report on Walt Disney. He had to write the oral presentation, memorize it, and make a poster to display of his chosen great American. Today was the big day he gave his presentation. He says it went all right. His report card is in his backpack. I have yet to look at it.

Last weekend we were blessed with the Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet at the Celebrity Ranch, complete with a real-live roping demonstration. The theme was a a Western-Style chuckwagon meal. As the Pack Treasurer, I was especially lucky to spend the entire two hours sitting behind a table collecting money for various upcoming events. Lucky me! At least my considerate husband brought me a plate of chicken, corn on the cob and potatoes. After dinner we had a pack meeting and I received an award for my position as pack treasurer. After the meeting our den stayed for a campout. That was fun. We watched the movie Down and Derby with popcorn and hot chocolate. It's a cute family-friendly flick about a group of (highly competitive) small-town Dads preparing for the upcoming Pinewood Derby. I'd recommend it for any of you cub scouts families out there. Very funny. And since we'll soon be preparing for our own Pinewood Derby, the timing was perfect. The next morning, after breakfast, the boys learned to play Badminton. When we returned home we (N) was surprised to find our (new at Christmas) Nintendo Wii was no longer working. It wouldn't turn on. There were some tears and disappointments, after a full weekend of N yearning for the game. Since it was still covered under warranty, I packaged the thing up and mailed it (postage covered) back to Nintendo USA to "fix 'er up". I mailed it off Monday, expecting to see it again in weeks, today it arrived on my doorstop, supposedly fixed. Ok, that was a little too easy, we'll have to see if it's really fixed tomorrow.

Our pack, waiting for the chow

My hard-earned award
