A day's reward....

My reward for a hard day spent shuttling between the dentist for bite impressions and the casting room in orthopedics for a new (rock-n-roll version of a) splint. (Thanks, Dad, for picking up the kids from school today).

When we arrived (at 12:15) the entire orthopedic department had just closed to lunch. Since we had more than an hour to wait, we stepped across the street from the hospital to Red Lobster for lunch. I had the Sailor's Platter. V had Coastal Soup in a Sourdough bowl and Grilled Shrimp Salad.

I finally got a look at what's under that post-operative dressing 8 days out from surgery. All I have to say is, "Eeww". The most accurate way I can describe my feelings...heebie jeebies. I would have taken a picture for you, but I forgot my camera, and you'd probably be completely grossed out anyhow. There is nothing like a 4-inch incision atop your arm stretching over your entire wrist and a metal pin sticking out of the top of your hand, which you know is (somehow) attached inside your littlest (and tenderest) finger! That's gonna be one u-g-l-y scar! Hand modeling...definately out, unless it's for the latest orthopedic textbook, that is. When I asked if they use a local anesthetic when they remove the pin.... "no". "Ouch" again....(makes me really want to show up for my appointment next week).
